She served as first counselor in the church’s General Relief Society Presidency from 1990 to 1997 and was one of the first speakers to address, in a church setting, the question of sexual abuse, and to discuss balancing work and family homosexuality blended families and coping - as she had - with racism. She was born in 1926 to Japanese laborers on a plantation on the big island of Hawaii and followed the Buddhist religion prior to her conversion. In that first meeting of the Relief Society, Emma said: “We are going to do something extraordinary-when a boat is stuck on the rapids, with a multitude of Mormons on board we shall consider that a loud call for relief-we expect extraordinary occasions and pressing calls.”Ĭhieko Okazaki was a convert to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who married a non-Mormon, experienced infertility, faced racial discrimination, endured bouts of breast cancer and lost her husband. The Prophet Joseph Smith, her husband, had promised to organize the women “after the pattern of the priesthood.” Emma organized the first LDS hymnbook and served as a close companion to her husband until his martyrdom. “No sister so isolated,” she declared, “but what she can do a great deal towards establishing the Kingdom of God upon the earth.”Įmma Hale Smith, first general president of the Relief Society, envisioned the great work of the Female Relief Society of Nauvoo when it was formed on March 17, 1842. She wanted every woman to recognize her significance in the Lord’s eyes and act upon it. But she didn’t wish such a life only for herself. “To be able to do Father’s will is what I wish to live for,”1 she once said. She was the second general president of the Relief Society, dedicated her life to serving the Lord. Eliza was a brilliant student and famous for her poetry. The magic in the dimmer lies in the Philips Hue bridge, which is required ($59) for the dimmer to work (and is required for any Philips Hue system). And don't worry - there's no interference or conflict between the Hue Dimmer and your normal wall switch. Just turn on the light containing the Hue bulb as you normally would (even if it's via a traditional wall switch) then, start using the Philips dimmer, and it will automatically work. This switch works with only Hue bulbs, though it's almost magic when it does. It can be used as a wireless remote or as a wall switch, but this switch doesn't need any installation, apart from peeling the covering off the adhesive on its back. The bridge itself must be plugged into your router so that you can control it from your smartphone.įor those who have outfitted their homes with Philips Hue bulbs or don’t want to replace their wall switches, the Philips Hue dimmer is a handy little device. The only downside is that the switch, like all of Lutron's products, must be linked to the Smart Bridge. Lutron has gone for function over fashion for the most part with this dimmer: The white and gray buttons are front and center, not hidden by touch-sensitive controls, as is the case with other dimmers in this category. The switch itself looks high-tech, with several buttons laid out to control the numerous options Caséta offers. Lutron's smart starter kit comes with one in-wall switch, one wireless remote and one smart bridge (hub), which can also be used to connect other Lutron products to the cloud and control them. It's one of the best HomeKit devices, too. You can also control the system using your voice through Amazon Alexa and Google Home, among many others. The Caséta line of switches from Lutron offers an impressive list of features: geofencing, which means your lights will automatically turn on or off when you leave or arrive at home the ability to schedule your lights to turn on or off at particular times or days dimming capabilities and compatibility with a long list of smart home platforms. #LUTRON SMART SWITCH FULL#Read our full Leviton Decora Smart Wi-Fi Dimmer review. It also lacks two-factor authentication, so we wouldn't recommend using it unless you're pairing it with HomeKit.įor those with older homes, Leviton has introduced two new smart switches, the Decora No-Neutral Dimmer ( $49, Amazon (opens in new tab)) and a No-Neutral Switch ( $44, Amazon (opens in new tab)), which work with the Decora Smart Wi-Fi Bridge ( $20, Amazon (opens in new tab)) all are compatible with Alexa, HomeKit, and Google Home, and look to be good, less expensive alternatives to Lutron's lineup. The Leviton also lacks the geofencing feature found in Lutron's app. The Leviton Decora works with Alexa, Google Assistant HomeKit, August and IFTTT, but it supports fewer smart home systems than Lutron does. As before, it works with three-way switches, but Leviton also released an Anywhere Dimmer (sold separately), which lets you add a secondary light switch without having to connect any wires. However, installation is a bit easier in this model. The second-generation Leviton Decora Smart Wi-Fi Dimmer looks much the same as the original - an unobtrusive paddle switch with a smaller toggle on the right. At around $70, it's more expensive than most other smart light switches, but the GE Cync Smart Switch gives you a lot for the price. #LUTRON SMART SWITCH ANDROID#Like other Alexa-enabled switches (it also works with Google Assistant), the dimmer responds to voice commands, but the Cync Android app needs some work setting up an automation for a room is confusing, and it can even be difficult to tell when you've scheduled it to go on and off. If you turn it off with the switch, after a few minutes it will engage the motion sensor again, or you can disable the sensor via the app in case you don't want it switched on in the middle of the night. The switch includes an ambient light sensor (so it can be set not to come on in daylight) and a motion sensor to automatically trigger the light. Installation, as with most other smart switches, requires a neutral wire, but it's fairly straightforward. The Wi-Fi-connected switch works with all kinds of bulbs, has apps for iOS and Android, and lets you control lights with a touch, voice, motion or remotely via a smartphone. The GE Cync Smart Switch isn't the sexiest or sleekest, but it's the best smart light switch because it gets the job done and is packed with features. To do damage, shoot the eye with a Missile, Super Missile, or charged shot. At this point, Phantoon's eye will remain open for some time, so try to get a hit in now. Some will drop on one side, then after the rest will drop from the other, so watch out for which side they fall on first, though it is also possible the entire line will fall in sequence. After that, it'll drop eight flames from the ceiling upon appearing again, which will not bouce. The first time its eye opens, it may disappear again quickly, with flames dropping in random spots afterwards. The tears can only be shot after their first bounce, though.Įventually, Phantoon will disappear, then reappear in solid form with its eye open and throw flames in a circular pattern from the eye around the room. Be ready to dodge the tears, as they bounce on the ground, but can also be shot, possibly awarding pickups. He will start out in a transparent state, flying around left and right and dropping blue flame “tears” from his closed eye. After a while, the flames will merge and the boss Phantoon will appear. When you enter, you will see a circle of blue flames, which cause damage should you touch them. Wait until the eye opens, then use strong attacks like charged shots and Missiles to hurt Phantoon A single Super Missile will get rid of it quickly. Another Gadora eye door blocks the boss room to Phantoon. In this room, head right, bombing the obstruction in the tunnel. Ignore or kill them, but take the door on the floor. Enemies called Atomics are encased in glass domes. If you aim down, you can shoot away some of the pipes, allowing you to reach a green door in ball form. Now head to the bottom of the main shaft. There are spikes in this passage, but because of the lack of power they won't hurt you, even if you touch them. On the left platform, bomb the wall to get to a passage where you can find a Missile Tank through the path. To continue, head down, ignoring the first locked door. Once they appear, you can ignore them if they're not in right front of you, or shoot them. As they're appearing, they won't damage you, so don't worry about going too fast and hitting them. As you are exploring the powerless ship, you may come across ghostlike Coven enemies which come into existence near you. Across from here is a Save Station, but it is currently inoperable. Go right past the entrance room to reach the main shaft. The Wrecked Ship is currently lacking power, and you must find a way to restore it to explore the whole thing. The Wrecked Ship is powerless, and Covens haunt its halls Shoot to reveal a path, then jump and morphball to enter, and head left to get a Missile Tank. Hop into the water, then head to the bottom left, below the submerged scaffold. Through the next door, you'll be outside again, with water nearby. You should have enough time to swing back-and-forth once or twice, then forward where you can jump to where you need to go before it crumbles. The ones that appear to have cracks will crumble and reappear after some time, so grapple quickly when on them. Drop to the Missile Tank pedestal, but make sure you notice the second part of the grapple points. Again, the water will slow you down so try not to fall when grappling. Go through, and you'll see grapple points, with a Missile Tank on a pedestal underneath, with water below all that. Starting from Samus' ship in Crateria, keep heading right until you get to an orange door. 1.1 Starting the Wrecked Ship: No Power. |
